The Portage Glacier Hike is a 2-mile-long trail that begins at the far end of the Whittier Tunnel. It is the only trail that allows you to easily view Portage Glacier on foot! By going through Portage Pass, the trail drops through glacial scrub before reaching the wide gravel shores of Portage Lake, directly across the breathtaking view of Portage Glacier.

The Byron Glacier Trail is a short 1.4 mile trail surrounded by gorgeous mountains and terrains. At the end of the trail, you’ll find yourself at the edge of Byron Glacier. This trial is an amazing way to access glacier viewing and it’s just one of the natural draws of the Portage Valley!

The Matanuska Glacier is a large ice flow, averaging approximately 2 miles in width. The Glacier is known to be a popular destination for hikers wanting to go on a fun and memorable adventure! There are several different selections of hiking tours on this glacier which include either a guided tour in the winter time, or unguided summer tours that can be chosen to your liking. If you want to make one of the most memorable moments, hike the Matanuska Glacier!
